I found out where Gary is!
Gary was the man at the heart of a very dark scene this past year at our apartment complex. He’s still not exactly sober, but he does have a place to stay with a couple through the winter.
We’ve had some extremely cold weather this winter, with lows in the single digits. For a New Hampshirite, this is normal, but this is an extreme winter for Georgia. And this wonderfully compassionate Christian couple couldn’t bear the thought of him living outside as the temperature plummeted. So they took him in until it gets warmer.
This couple, Mark and Nicole*, don’t have two nickels to rub together themselves. They get by on a string and have many medical bills to pay. But they have hearts of gold, always ready to share and to give. They are truly generous examples of Jesus to those around them.
Mark said to me today, “I’ve got a lot of tire marks on my back from helping people out – but even if I get burned 9 times out of every 10 – man, it’s just so worth it for that one time when you really make a difference.” I really hope that Gary is that one.
And I want to help. But I need your help too. I’d like to defray some of their costs in taking care of Gary – like the extra food, clothing, toiletries they have to buy. If this strikes a chord with you, would you make a donation to Mark and Nicole?
You can send a check to us directly, with “Gary” in the memo line, or you can do it online through our support account, and shoot us a message to let me know that it’s a special donation for this couple. And we’ll keep you posted on what happens.
More than money, all three people need our prayers on this journey – Gary to break free and change course, and Mark and Nicole as they do their best to teach him and show him a different way of life through freedom.
Thanks for all you do, and how much you care!
