I really love my job. I'm in charge of support coaching at Adventures. Some days it’s more relational, and others more about getting tasks done. But at the end of the day, I help people realize that God is behind them, and ready to provide their needs if they are obedient to the call. That’s a good day. So here’s how yesterday went…

9:47am – Arrived at Adventures in Missions headquarters. Distributed a few small gifts to people who had really engaged in some of my support training.

9:58am – Time for a meeting! Was surprised by some big changes we’re making – but it’s exciting. Leadership has caught a vision that was much needed. Gave positive feedback – “These are awesome moves!”

11:30am – Notice someone struggling with the new changes. Realize that one department needs a little more attention in making the transition. Report this information to leadership. They will follow up with extra care for this team.

11:40am – Was asked a technical question about support accounts. Led to a discussion on healthy and unhealthy emotions. I share my personal experiences to help encourage and direct.

12:08pm – Time to meet with my Discipleship group over lunch! I’ve got three girls who are fresh off of the World Race mission trip that I mentor every week. We talk about personality strengths, and what healthy relationships look like. Make a date for girls’ night next week.

1:15pm – Hunt for a Snickers. I track down quarters, only to have them eaten by the snack machine. Find more quarters. Try again. Victory is mine! Chocolate is tasty.

1:28pm – Set up coaching appointment with person in the hall.

1:31pm – Get on a phone call with our newsletter vendor. Map out all options and costs. Update billing information.

2:00pm – Draft an instruction sheet, explaining the process of how to use our newsletter vendor, with all available options and costs. Add information to intranet. Post sheet on bulletin board.

3:30pm – Track down support raising plans from a department I met with on Tuesday.

3:55pm – Encourage new staff member who is nervous about support raising. Set up coaching appointments. Educate on all our resources and trainings coming up.

4:00pm – Go over work list, crossing off things accomplished today, prioritizing work for next day. File management. Shameless Facebook break.

4:45pm – Show new support account tracking system I built to senior accountant. Get feedback on how to implement the new system. Get permission for future coaching expenses.

5:15pm – Off to pick up the boys and head home!

Some might say it's just an office job. But I think I really do some awesome things to build the kingdom of God on earth. I help people raise money for their missions work. I encourage and mentor people in their missions work. It's a pretty cool job.
