I am happy.
It’s hard for me to get those words out because I feel like in some way I’m being disloyal to my New England home, to admit that I like my new one in Georgia.
I’m not a huge fan of Georgia per se. It’s hot and there are taxes everywhere. You want that big mac? Tax. You want to drive in the left lane? Tax. Did you just breathe in some State of Georgia air? Tax.
The dirt is red and hard as a brick and no one knows how to drive in the rain.
But, it is so sweet to be on the path of Jesus. It is sweet to have the growth and mentorship that I’ve been looking for. It is sweet to know that our work is building God’s kingdom instead of ours. And it is sweet to see God take care of us and establish our family as a beacon and a haven. Life is not without frustrations, challenges and worries – but life is a sweet blessing when you're walking with Jesus.
We miss our friends and family. We miss our snow-capped granite mountains and birch trees. But our life in Georgia is getting sweeter everyday and it is such a gift.
I like it here…even if I don't like it here.
